Hypotheticals

COSS’ variable product illustrations allow you to illustrate a hypothetical rate of return based on the funds selected in the allocation. While we enforce the 0% - 12% boundaries established by the NASD, we take it one step further. Rather than illustrate the maximum return of 12%, we allow you to establish hypothetical rates of returns for your various funds. For example, your aggressive international fund may have a hypothetical rate of 9.73%, while your mid-cap growth fund may have a hypothetical rate of 6.80%. You select the allocation desired, and the system will illustrate a blended hypothetical rate of return. This allows for more realistic illustrations reflecting rates of return more appropriate to the risk tolerance of the insured.
