COSS .NET Enterprise Suite
COSS is currently building the latest version of the COSS Enterprise Suite of products using the .NET development framework. The system is modeled on the current applications from COSS and includes many improvements over the existing system. The .NET framework can be deployed on a single machine for use in a disconnected (or desktop) environment. Or, it can run on a server in a single-tier, two-tier, three-tier, or Web farm (load balanced) environment as a connected system. For end users in either mode, the system provides a rich browser-based user interface.
Microsoft server technology is required to run the COSS system. The .NET framework, version 1.1, is required for all personal computers and servers running the COSS system. In addition, COSS uses a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) to house data used by the system. Connected users can use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 in the first phase of deployment. Future phases will offer support for other RDBMS platforms. In addition ASP.NET services are required to run the COSS system.
